If you missed it, earlier this year Tudor stepped into the arena of Formula 1 as the official partner of Team Visa Cash App RB (formerly Alpha Tauri). If you’re a subscriber to our print magazine you’ll have seen in our monthly Luxury Watch News round-up various stories about special edition Black Bays worn by the team. However, until now none of them have ever been for sale and as such we haven’t talked about them here online. As of today, you can buy the Tudor Black Bay Ceramic Blue first debuted as part of the Tudor F1 partnership.
The watch is based on the original Black Bay Ceramic from 2021 and features the same 41mm diameter case in black ceramic. The 2021 edition was ground-breaking at the time because not only was it the first ceramic Black Bay, introducing the robust, scratch resistant material to the collection, but also it was the first Tudor Master Chronometer timepiece. Since then they’ve continued to expand these features across other models and in particular their Master Chronometer movements.
In fact, the only major difference between the Black Bay Ceramic Blue and the original is the dial colour. Which as the name suggests is blue now, to match the team colours of RB. In addition to that, the hybrid leather and rubber strap has blue stitching and the alternative fabric strap has a blue stripe. The blue colour itself is very intense, clearly visible across the room or even across the F1 paddock.
As we’ve already touched upon briefly, the movement housed inside is certified by METAS as a Master Chronometer, which means it has exceeded COSC chronometer status – learn what that means here. The movement is called the Manufacture Calibre MT5602-1U and it has a 70-hour power reserve and operates at a 4 Hz frequency.
Now that the Tudor Black Bay Ceramic Blue is actually available in boutiques and online, how much does it cost? Well, it will set you back £4,420, identical to the 2021 ceramic model. For a ceramic case and a Master Chronometer movement, that’s surprisingly well priced. Although considering that fans have been clamouring to get their hands on it since the watch was debuted on the wrists of Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda since March, you might have your work cut out to procure one any time soon.
