The Studio Underd0g Pizza Party collection is… actually real?? The story of this collection dates back to April 1st 2023, when as an April Fools joke Studio Underd0g announced they’d be making a pizza themed version of their Series 01 watch with an elaborate marketing video. It was obviously a prank but one that people actually believed, with over 20,000 people visiting their website and over 800 people getting in touch to register interest in this fictional timepiece. A bit of a no-brainer to make it a real collection and now they have done so in collaboration with Time + Tide.
There are two models in the Pizza Party collection, the Pepper0ni and Hawaiian. Both feature gradient dials that start with cheesy yellow in the centre blending through orange to red at the edge of the main dial. A beige tachymeter around the circumference then completes the pizza base with a nice crust.
Adorning the Pepper0ni is an assortment of pepperoni (duh), mushrooms, olives and salad leaves while on the Hawaiian is ham and pineapple. A quick ask around the Oracle Time office reveals that OT is largely in favour of pineapple on pizza – so all my colleagues are categorically wrong and should be banned from buying pizza ever again. It’s a harsh stance but a justifiable one I feel. Pineapple on a watch though, that’s a different question entirely and I suppose I can permit that.
Beyond the new deep-dish dials, this is the Series 01 as we already know it. It has a 38.5mm steel case and houses the Seagull ST-1901 automatic chronograph movement. Although one area that differs from previous Series 01 watches is availability with the Pizza Party watches even more exclusive than the already nigh impossible to procure Watermel0n and other references. That’s because it’s hand-delivered only like the best pizzas, meaning you can only purchase them directly from Studio Underd0g’s founder Richard Benc or Time + Tide founder Andrew McUtchen in person.
There’s a full list of events where you can meet Richard on the Studio Underd0g website, with the next UK events being in Leeds in February and the British Watchmakers’ Day on March 9th in London.
