Signum Cuda Titanium Full Lume Watch Review (and Giveaway)

With our Orient Star 1964 Diver V2 subscriber giveaway coming to a close – congratulations to the winner Michele van Hooft – it’s time to get the next subscriber giveaway started. This time we’re giving away the Signum Cuda Titanium Full Lume. As a reminder, for a chance to win the watch you just need to be a subscriber to the our print magazine. Let’s meet the Cuda.

Off the bat, it’s a 42.5mm diameter dive watches with 200m water resistance and a unidirectional rotating diving bezel. While 42.5mm is large, that’s not especially big for a diving watch and in titanium it’s actually very light for its size. All of which means it’s actually very comfortable on the wrist, even for my slim forearms. The titanium bracelet is also nicely brushed with facetted end links.

Of course, as part of the Full Lume collection, the key feature of the watch is the full lume dial. “Lume” is the term for any luminescent material used in the design of a watch face, it’s most often used for hour marker and hands to enable wearers to read the time in low light conditions. There are lots of different types of lume but the most common is Swiss SuperLuminova, which is what the Signum Cuda uses

This model uses a green lume for the dial and BGW9 blue lume for the sword hands and circular hour markers. Holding it in the bright sunlight for a moment to supercharge the lume, I love how vibrant the glow of the dial is when in the darker shade of the office. You can picture the shine of it underwater while snorkelling, illuminating the gloom and allowing you to read the display in any conditions.

Flipping the watch over reveals a solid steel caseback engraved with the watch’s specifications as well as a cartoonish depiction of a fish. Taking a closer look at the fish’s considerable underbite and considering that the watch is called the Cuda, I assume it’s a barracuda. Hidden behind the caseback is the Seiko NH35, a Japanese movement with 42-hour power reserve.

The Signum Cuda Titanium Full Lume is priced at $449 (approx. £370), although for one Oracle Time subscriber it will be free. The giveaway is open right now and closes on April 1st 2024, as a reminder to be entered for a chance to win all you need to do is be a subscriber to the Oracle Time print magazine. Who knows, perhaps this fun, vibrant, titanium Cuda will be yours.
