OMEGA launched the Planet Ocean collection as a tribute to their dive watch heritage, acknowledging the incredible maritime legacy they have gained throughout the years. This model combines a sturdy stainless steel case with a black structured rubber strap hosting orange stitching and lining, creating a unique and aesthetically pleasing contrast. Framing the dial is a polished black ceramic unidirectional rotating bezel, the world’s first black ceramic bezel possessing orange rubber which also features a diving scale crafted from Liquidmetal®. Fortifying the dial is a scratch resistant sapphire crystal glass dome with anti-reflective treatment on both sides, protecting the polished black ceramic backdrop which features Arabic numerals and a date window at the 3 o’clock position. Superluminova has also been applied across the dial allowing easier legibility during low light situations, offering a fantastic attribute. At the heart of this timepiece is the OMEGA master chronometer calibre 8900, an automatic movement with co-axial escapement. In order to achieve master chronometer status, the watch has passed a series of 8 rigorous tests set by METAS (The Swiss Federal Institute of Metrology), and is resistant to magnetic fields reaching 15,000 gauss. As well as an astonishing 600 metre water resistance and a power reserve of 60 hours, the item features a helium escape valve to regulate pressure when diving.
