Aeronom Update Aero One with BLK Limited Edition Featuring Stealthy Sport Design

Last year Aeronom burst onto the watch scene with their debut timepiece, the Aero One. It instantly became one of the frontrunners in the arena of accessible street watches. It has a bold, integrated bracelet sports watch design with a restrained dial that captured the attention of microbrand fans. For the winter season, they released this, the Aero One – BLK, a stealthy rendition of the watch as dark as the December nights.

It’s a pretty simple update to understand as it takes the standard Aero One and dresses it in a DLC coating. DLC stands for Diamond Like Carbon, an ultra-hard and scratch resistant coating with a matte black finish. It pulls double duty, increasing the robust, durability of the watch while also giving it that signature black colourway. Plus, there’s the fact that the DLC gives it a different finishing, much smoother and matte compared to the previous metallic vertical brush. It enhances the overall confidence of the watch, giving it a larger presence on the wrist than its 41.5mm diameter suggests.

Looking at the dial, the Aeronom Aero One BLK has kept things similar to the debut model. A black display with central hours, minutes and seconds, a 24-hour subdial at 9 o’clock and a wide date window at 3. The main visual update is the fact that the applied indexes and hands have been given a black coating to match the black of the case and dial, boosting the strong monocolour design. On top of that, the 24-hour subdial has had its numerals removed, making it far more minimalist.

The watch’s caseback is mostly solid with a small openheart exhibition window revealing part of the movement housed inside. That movement is the automatic calibre Miyota 8217 with a 42-hour power reserve, 21,600 vph frequency and 4,800 A/m magnetic field protection. It’s very solid movement and an accessible one as well, which is important for keeping the watch itself accessible despite having a limited production of just 200 pieces.

Speaking of, the Aeronom Aero One BLK is just £440. At that price, this is a serious contender for being one of the coolest new sports watches on the market. Versatile, masculine, durable and sleek with its updated black design. It’s very impressive for such a young brand and here’s hoping that in the years to come they’ll continue to carve out their own space in the industry full of cool, accessible sport and adventure watches.
